(06/16/2008, Ostfildern) - On Thursday, 12th of June
2008 the company SCHOPF Maschinenbau GmbH was 60 years old. That anniversary
was
celebrated in a dignified scale together with around 300 guests, customers,
business partners and employees.
“We have the power” has been SCHOPF’s slogan for many
years. In view of the powerful products for the airport and mining industries
the anniversary festivities were themed “60 years of power” and
started on the company’s premises in Ostfildern. After the welcome
of the Managing Partner, Dr. Hermann Brüggemann, Heinz Ollesch, Germany’s
most successful strong man, showed in a quite spectacular manner, what
can be managed by human power. So he pulled a 10 ton weighing aircraft
tow tractor. Thereafter Heinz Ollesch heaved a 130 kg weighing stone ball
into the bucket of a 50 years old loader, an ancient unit that stands for
SCHOPF’s beginning in Zinsholz, where it had started to produce construction
machines in 1948. That old shovel loader represents SCHOPF’s proverbial
quality, since it is still fully operational. Jörg Schopf, the 87
years old founder of the company, came by as well and enjoyed meeting with
long-time suppliers and employees as well as seeing the development of
his “heritage”. Plant tours and musical entertainment by a
mining band from Saarland, made it a perfect event.
The two hosts and partners, Dr. Hermann Brüggemann and Claus Haubeil,
offered a special surprise, especially to customers coming from afar, amongst
others from New Zealand, Thailand, South Africa and Kenya: the evening
festivities took place at the historical power station in Rottweil. After
Dr. Brüggemann’s inaugural address, the Economics Minister of
the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg, Ernst Pfister, presented the
congratulations from the Federal State Government. He reported about the
company’s success story and underlined the importance of medium-sized
business to the economical success of the “Ländle” (=
Swabian belittlement of country). Innovations are the driving forces of
an enterprise like SCHOPF and are being supported by the educational and
research establishments of the state. Well-trained, creative and motivated
employees essentially contribute to success. Dr. Ulrich Zeitel, Chairman
of the Economic Affairs Council of Baden-Württemberg, talked about
the significance of German medium-sized business in conflicting interests
of international competition.
Ursula Hoffmann, the known moderator, led through the evening programme.
The company’s chronicle in combination with world affairs since 1948
was shown in 6 entertaining news blocs by the SCHOPF News Network. The
viewy highlight of that night were the colourful fireworks to classical
strains, presented by the pyrotechnics artist, Joachim Berner, which will
be “powerfully” treasured by all the guests from all over the
world.
